Tamara's Kitchen

Ever dreamed of learning how to cook a delicious canadian meal? At Rimouski in Quebec, Tamara will receive you at her kitchen and share her secret canadian recipes, find out more about her in this short interview.

Why do you like to cook?

I like to cook because it makes me travel. I have a collection of spices and I always bring back recipes from my trips. Also, cooking for me is a social activity, I love to share food and enjoy a good meal with friends and family.

What you like most in Canadian Cuisine?
What I like in Canadian food is the use of root vegetables (potatoes, carrots, etc.) and venison. I come from a family of hunters so I always have some good deer, wild bird or moose in my freezer. I also like very much the mix of native american food (berries, maple syrup) and French cuisine that was brought here during the colonial era.

What are you going to teach at HomeyCook?
I am going to offer traditional Quebec meals, depending on the season, such as Tourtière (meat pie), maple syrup and blueberry pie. Also, I love to cook vegetarian meals, and I can offer to teach meals I discovered during my trips. I know well French cuisine, South-Asian recipes and I am not scared to use my spice collection!
